3 months agoWe came for an early dinner on a Sunday. Guess what! They have happy hour all day on Sundays! We tried 7 different menu items and our bill came to $78. What a great deal! We tried: Buffalo chicken egg roll, blackened salmon taco, mini nachos (we did steak and chicken), the Ruben slider, and the Cajun salmon dinner entree. We also tried the margaritas. Now, I will say the margaritas were too sweet, but the food was phenomenal. We loved everything we tried. The service was also incredible. We will definitely be back again to try more food. Also, they have events including live music and daily meal specials.

3 months agoThis was our first stop on Denver restaurant week, and we were very impressed. They could have gotten away with serving us a lot less. They are on the $25/ea tier, and it is clear that they are doing what businesses are supposed to this week... attracting future customers. Many places don't seem to understand this. As we looked through the menus that are $35 and $45/ea this week, many just didn't seem worth it. I mean, who is buying street tacos and a couple of cheap apps and desserts for a $90 meal (with drinks)? But clearly the metro understands what many others don't. Their menu was easily the standout among all other $25 tier restaurants. Amuse-bouche, 4 soup and salad options, 5 entrees, and 3 desserts to choose from. Of course we noticed, and of course we had to go. It was too tempting not to. The amuse-bouche was a nice little balsamic caprese skewer with cherry tomatoes and pesto. Usually an amuse-bouche is only a bite or two, but this was four. The buffalo mozzarella was fresh, and the pesto drizzle was incredibly flavorful. Now that I am remembering it, I want to come back and see what pastas they have with that pesto because from the smallest taste it was wonderful. My wife had French onion soup and I had a Caesar salad. Both quite good. She had a shrimp risotto and I had a pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was impressed with the portion of my schnitzel for sure. They could have given me half of what I was served and I would have appreciated it just as much. It was a full pounded pork chop, about the size of the dinner plate if they hadn't cut it in half, and a nice little mountain of potatoes and delicious asparagus. I'm definitely looking forward to lunch tomorrow as half of it had to be saved. The risotto was put together very well with some bacon and sweet potato whips on top of it. Dessert was a choice of salted caramel cheesecake, key lime pie, or "mud pie", which was an Oreo crusted and chocolate espresso mousse with a dark fudge topper. So good. My wife enjoyed the key lime pie as well. And for only $25/ea, we still have a really nice lunch to look forward to tomorrow. I know that Metropolitan could have charged more for their menu this week, but they went for the future business instead. Everybody will have their stories of their favorite places this week, and The Metro aimed to be the most impressive in their class. And they hit the mark. We were very impressed, and we look forward to coming back.

6 months agoYou know, I'm not much for pub style restaurants, but...this place has it going on. Located in a neighborhood setting, it is a favorite among nearby residents, and they even welcome outsiders like us! The place is super casual and it's spacious. A full bar and open kitchen adds to the atmosphere, but not as much as the black and white photo montages featuring iconic scenes from your favorite U.S. city. And if you're into comfort food like gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers...well you can't go wrong at Metropolitan. Oh and bring friends because the booths are Huge!!

3 months agoSchnitzel was very dry and tough, not enough gravy, the Succotash was odd and tasted burnt, the fries had too much Cajun seasoning. Service was a bit slow.

10 months agoI have always loved the atmosphere here and very happy it's been around for as long as it has. The staff has always been on point, never a single bad experience over the past 7 years I have been coming here. The same goes for the food. Some meals have been good but not out of this world great however I have a 5 star for food because they nailed it on my salmon! It's rare that I find a salmon so perfectly cooked.
